You will choose one main class for the day – it will be your child’s base for a vibrant summer day. Through added elements of art, science, and/or movement, each class will be a full and rich experience – one that offers deep learning, but most of all, fun.
K-2 Intro Classes
Designed to prepare students entering into PUSD’s French Immersion Program, students will have fun learning basic instructions and vocabulary in French. Activities will include language arts, mathematics, art, and music. Students must be five years old by Sept. 1, 2021.
Reinforces the reading, math, and language skills learned during the kindergarten year of PUSD's French Immersion Program. Class is open to any student who has already completed one year of a French Immersion Program. Students must be six years old by Sept. 1, 2021.
Designed to help ease the transition from kindergarten to 1st grade, students will engage in creative, thematic activities that reinforce reading and mathematics. As students are introduced to 1st grade curriculum, they will gain skills for academic success. Students must be six years old by Sept. 1, 2021.
Reinforces reading, math, and the language skills learned in the first two years of PUSD's French Immersion Program. Class is open to any student who has already completed two years of a French immersion program. Students must be seven years old by Sept. 1, 2021.
Going into middle school or looking into mastering your skills learned in the sixth grade? This intro to middle school class promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of students by expanding on the foundation established in elementary school. Students will dive into English, mathematics, history, humanities, and science in a fun and engaging environment filled with projects and activities.
Students will examine key scientific concepts and explore physical, earth, and life science through fun and challinging activities. Math topics range from 2D vs 3D to creating their own place value system. Art topics focus on the elements of art and PE lessons would be split between conditioning and skills. Students will create science concept cards, math notebooks, and their very own art portfolios.
Come and experiment and build skills with a wide range of media, techniques and ""concepts in art"" from drawing and painting to sculpture, clay and mixed media. Students will learn individually through choice based activities (stations), as well as through cooperative (and safe, socially distanced) group activities. Students will also learn by looking at the work of a wide range of historical and contemporary artists, focussing in particularly on underrepresented and less well-known artists as inspiration for self expression and communication."
Do you want to be a Twenty-First Century Renaissance person? Build your knowledge and creativity by not only studying literature and art, but creating it. By immersing yourself in contemporary short stories, writing in a variety of genres including fiction, nonfiction and poetry, you will also learn about the lives of great artists and create your own artworks based on their unique styles. Students will leave with a portfolio of work.
No matter when or where, we can take you there! Students will travel through important world events, explore cultures, and share their findings in a variety of fun and engaging formats. Along their journey, students create their own maps, learn about landmarks, and even publish their own ancient newspaper. Class is designed for students of all levels of academic ability.
