You will choose one main class for the day – it will be your child’s base for a vibrant summer day. Through added elements of art, science, and/or movement, each class will be a full and rich experience – one that offers deep learning, but most of all, fun.
Intro to High School is designed to provide a smooth transition from middle school to the high school setting and develop a sense community and ownership. As students brush up on core subjects like Math, Science, English, and History, they will gain the confidence to thrive in a new environment. Returning high school students hone in on their skills as they learn about job applications, budgeting, finance, community service, career reaserech and many more!
Pasadena Musical Theater
Come be a part of this summer’s most fun musical revue production led by Pasadena Musical Theatre Program. Professional teaching artists will lead this conservatory-style format as an original production that will culminate in a grand performance!
Students will learn the process of designing and building through experimentation in architecture, product design and activist art to develop critical thinking skills and develop the confidence and ability to shape their own success and build a better world. Applying their core subject learning, they will design and build transformative projects that will expand their sense of power and agency.
Learn the art of photographic expression and discover career paths from a professional photographer. Emphasis will be on technical fundamentals and personal image capture. Photography masters will be studied for their approach to genres such as street photography, portraiture, and black-and-white imagery. Digital cameras provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own if available.
Students of all skill levels learn drawing techniques including redering, shading, and perspective through excercises designed to help understand each of the thought processes involved in drawing and illustrating. Artists will learn about line, form, setching, shading, color, and many more techniques while they explore career paths as an artist.
Using a 3-D printer and software, aspiring engineers will create prototypes that address real world challenges. Students will use the Engineering Design Process to move from investigation, through design and creation, to evaluation, and ultimately bring their products to life.
Students will learn the exciting art and technology of robotics, from mechanical design to programming, and strengthen their knowledge of algebra. Students will build important teamwork and problem-solving skills as well. This class is available for all levels of experience.
Dive into the world of music! From rock to pop and hip hop, students will understand how songs are structured and will even create music of their own. Students will also learn how music improves mood, quality of life, and self-esteem. While they explore different genres, students gain an understanding of musical instruments that will help lead up to a performance! This class is open to all skill levels.
