4th – 9th Grade students pick three Block schedule classes to move between throughout the morning, or they can enroll in the Pasadena Musical Theatre Program.

9th – 12th Grade students taking High School classes get the opportunity to focus on one particular career or hobby. High school classes happen at different times/dates/locations, as noted in the course description.

Calling all artists! Using repurposed materials and discards, students will create two and three-dimensional artworks through different techniques. Students will create unique pieces of art by manipulating and combining objects into 3D shapes, all while inspiring their creativity and imagination.

Join us as we analyze scenes from our favorite movies and learn the fundamentals of acting through scene work! Students bring scripts to life through acting exercises, improv games, basic movement, voice training, and scene partner work. Come and feel empowered to create and express through performance.

Students will develop ideas for engaging stories and learn how to communicate through the art of documentary filmmaking. They will be guided through the process of concept development, production, editing techniques, music and sound design, and final presentation.

Ever wonder how you will manage your personal finances and excel in the professional world? In this course, students become entrepreneurs and start their own business. Students will review and apply mathematical operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, ratios, and percent as they work their way into becoming successful summer leaders!

Woodworking [Beg./Int./Adv.]Science, Technology, Engineering, Math

Students drill, saw, and hammer as they design and build their own projects from wood. They’ll learn to safely use shop tools, understand differences between various kinds of lumber, and practice techniques for measuring, sanding, and staining. Students who’ve already completed beginning Woodworking can enroll in the intermediate class.

Get moving in this class designed to build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance through fun, outdoor activities. The Pasadena Musical Theatre Program is a self-contained class for students entering 4th – 9th grade. As a self-contained class, students who enroll will spend the entire morning in this program.

Music Tech & RecordingCareer Exploration

Come learn about the music industry from the pros at the California College of Music. Week one will focus on song ideas and introduction to Apple Logic Pro, while week two takes your creations into the recording studio for a more finished product. No instruments or prior experience needed, just a love of music. This class will be held off-site at the California College of Music. Class runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, June 12 – June 22 (2 weeks).

College ChampionsCollege Prep

CAP’s College Champions summer program is a youth leadership opportunity for rising high school seniors. Students will complete college lists, essays, and resumes; hone their leadership skills; and train to serve as peer mentors in their school and local communities. Seniors who successfully complete the summer workshops will earn a leadership certificate. Class runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, June 12 – June 29 (3 weeks).

PhotographyCareer Exploration

Learn the art of photographic expression and discover career paths from a professional photographer. Emphasis will be on technical fundamentals and personal image capture. Photography masters will be studied for their approach to genres such as street photography, portraiture, and black-and-white imagery. Digital cameras provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own if available. Class runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, June 12 – June 29 (3 weeks).

Visual Art StudioCareer Exploration

Students of all skill levels learn drawing techniques including rendering, shading, and perspective through exercises designed to help understand each of the thought processes involved in drawing and illustrating. Artists will learn about line, form, sketching, shading, color, and many more techniques while they explore career paths as an artist. Class runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, June 12 – July 13 (5 weeks).
