Robotics with Mr. Dev

Grades 6-8

Mr. Ravi Dev Anandhan (Mr. Dev) has been teaching for Pasadena Unified School District for the past 18 years. Currently he teaches 8th grade Science & Robotics at Sierra Madre Middle School (SMMS). In addition, Mr. Dev teaches summer enrichment for Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) every year for the past 8 years. Mr. Dev started the Robotics program, Science Fair, and Co-founded Science Olympiad at SMMS. He graduated from USC with a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked as an Applications Engineer for Teledyne Relays before he switched his career and followed his dreams and calling as a teacher. He went ahead and completed his Master’s degree in Teaching, Learning,
and Technology along with two Single Subject credentials in Physics
and Mathematics. He also completed a Robotics course at Carnegie Mellon University. Mr. Dev was awarded the teacher of Excellence award by the Pasadena Rotary club in 2014.

2020 At Home Lessons

New Video Lessons will be shared every Monday beginning June 8, 2020.

Lesson 1: Adventure Peak – First steps in the CoderZ learning environment. Basic navigation: driving and turning using Drive and Turn blocks.

Lesson 2: Frozen Island – Basic arithmetic practice: addition, subtraction, division.

Lesson 3: The Lost City – How to use the Explore Mode feature to measure distances, the Wait block, and Repeat Loops.

Lesson 4: Crystal Crater – Basic geometry practice: angles and parallel lines. Practicing Repeat Loops.

Lesson 5: Candy Town – More geometry: the concept of radius in a circle. Practicing Repeat Loops.
