Visual Arts with Atilio Pernisco

Grades 9 – 12

Atilio Pernisco has a BFA from Art Center College of Design and his MFA from Claremont Graduate University. He worked as an illustrator and designer for over a decade for a diverse list of clients until he began exhibiting his work nationally and internationally. He teaches at Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and at a few other local institutions.

2020 At Home Lessons

New Video Lessons will be shared every Monday beginning June 8, 2020.

Lesson 1 – Shading Techniques using hatching and cross-hatching. Drawing techniques using geometric forms as objects.

Lesson 2 – From Realism to Abstraction. A triptych 3 step process using ideas of design and composition. Graphite, black marker and color pencils or paints.

Lesson 3 – From 2D to 3D. Draw an abstract design and make it into a sculpture. Inspired by an object or an idea. Tape, stock paper and scissors.

Lesson 4 – Read and Illustrate an article of choice or a movie, music band, book to make a poster or cover. Color pencils or paints.

Lesson 5 – Draw the human face and facial features in proportions. Paper and pencil.
